  • Using Reddit as the front

    Recently, I've been moving toward using Reddit as the front door to my BBS. By front door, I mean that it's a good place to make your BBS subreddit and then link all your BBS news, games, stuff there. Here are a few benefits I've noticed:

    * Reddit is always up
    * You can customize your subreddit with CSS
    * Links to other sites can be advertised
    * Subreddit posts can use RSS and imported into Synchronet message areas
    * Good way to network in your city/town
    * Another way to appear in google searches
    * Can assign moderators to help out
    * Helps keep BBS'ing mainstream

    Here's an example: Still have some work to do. Also, need to add the RSS feed to my Synchronet website.

    I've never used Reddit, but I've heard somewhere that Reddit is the most BBS-like of a web forum. Maybe I should check out Reddit some time.
