I'm a bit confused on the DOVENet setup process for Mystic. I got my QWK ID, set up the QWK network, set up one message base for the time being and then tried to run qwkpoll with the following results:

    Exchanging Mail for DOVENet
    Exported @mirdlnds.rep -> 0 msgs
    Connecting via FTP to vert.synchro.net
    Connected
    Logged in as mirdlnds
    Downloading QWK packet
Packet does not exist on remote: mirdlnds.qwk
Response: 550 File not found: mirdlnds.qwk

I was able to manually download an import file from vert directly but, it placed all the messages in the one group I created and didn't create
    any additional groups.

Unfortunately DOVENet's instructions are geared toward Synchronet so I don't think I did things correctly.

    Hello Lord,

Packet does not exist on remote: mirdlnds.qwk
Response: 550 File not found: mirdlnds.qwk

If you are getting your QWK packets from Vertrauen you will get VERT.qwk, you have to set the "Packet ID" to VERT.qwk in the QWK network settings for that hub in mystic -cfg -> Networking -> QWK Networks.

Also, is there a way to auto-create message bases for QWK-style networks or only FIDO-style?

Yep, g00r00 has been working on the FTP support recently. It might be worth upgrading to the current pre-alpha A46. I think A46 is close to being release ready although g00r00 may have things he wants to do before releasing it.

Also, is there a way to auto-create message bases for QWK-style
    networks or only FIDO-style?

When I added the DOVE-Net areas into Mystic I cut and pasted the area info from dove-net.txt into a fidonet.na type file and imported it with the Import_FIDONET.NA function of mutil.

That gave me the bases to start with, I still needed to add the base id's and QWKnet hub info into the areas. Something like..

    DOVE-GEN General Chat
    DOVE-ENT Entertianment

    and so on.

Thanks again for all the help!

No worries. If you have questions there are many of us who have already done this so we can help with any issues you have.

Set the PACKET ID to the system you're connecting to:

e.g. VERT and not your own board's ID.

I get this from time to time. I usually just check it again once or twice and it goes through.

The QWKID for DOVE is VERT, assuming you're downloading from the hub. This is a common mistake.

I was able to manually download an import file from vert directly but,
it placed all the messages in the one group I created and didn't create any additional groups.

The various piecs of information are basically the same. Mystic just puts them in different places. But as I said, you need to use VERT as the QWKID for the connection.

You may have a brain dead router. Try passive mode, if you're using active FTP and vice-versa.

Also, is there a way to auto-create message bases for QWK-style
    networks or only FIDO-style?

Not officially that I know of in Mystic, but I did cheat by creating a dummy *.NA file using my Synchronet BBS, making some minor tweaks, importing that to Mystic, then making some final fixes. That did at least save a bit of typing. The gold standard for auto creating QWK bases would be the ability to import a CONTROL.DAT from a QWK packet. This will have enough information to set everything up, including the conference numbers.

    Hey Al,

I installed Pre-Alpha 46 and everything seems to be running OK. I also forwarded port 60000 in my router to the Rasp Pi to allow for FTP passive.

I get a MPL version mismatch error on sign-in but, it doesn't seem to negatively impact any of the board's operation. I do have a full backup just in case.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Cool.. A46 is in good shape from what I have seen.

I think an "./mplc -T" will recompile all the .mps files in your themes directories or maybe "./mplc -ALL" will work.

I do have a full backup just in case.

    Always a good idea.. :)

As long as it's run from the main /mystic directory, as that's where the new mplc is now located.

The ./mplc -ALL will actually scan all sub-directories within /mystic, and compile the mpls. I found that out, as I had a few in one of the file directories here, and it compiled them. :)
