• Getting AreaFix to push mail when polling

From nick@21:4/145 to All on Tue Mar 2 07:51:27 2021
    Hi all,

This probably belongs on General but it is a test too...

I've sent AreaFix several message including %RESCAN, %HELP%, etc but only new messages come in. I want binkit to download all messages from the past 90 days. Is this possible? I know it requires an AreaFix message beforehand so the Hub knows to push that mail to my binkit call out. Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Nick

Yes, this can be done. Send those messages as a netmail to you hub and be sure to include the password on the subject line.

Areafix will reply to you with the results of your rescan so if you don't get a reply perhaps that netmail never got to your hub.

Check the logs and see what happens when those messages arrive. If you recieved those messages already they may be caught as dupes. If that is happening you can delete your dupe database, data/echodupes.dat.

Looks like you are running Synchronet? If so each base has it's own dupe base in [INTERNAL-CODE].hash.

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I did this, along with other commands in the same message such as %QUERY and %HELP just to make sure the hub is receiving my mail and I am receiving theirs. I get a reply for help, query but none for rescan. It's weird and I'm waiting for a reply but thought I'd ask in case any of you knew....

I appreciate the help but looks like I will have to wait for Dan to reply.. unless you have any other ideas?

Ok, the help is a little be confusing for the rescan command. I think it's been changed in newer versions of Husky, but I haven't updated yet...

Try sending a netmail message with:

    %rescan *

If you just send the %rescan, it assumes that you will be connecting to message echos after that command, and it will rescan those.

So, to rescan the last 90 days, you would send:

    %rescan * 90 days

Or, if you want the last 1000 messages in each echo:

    %rescan * 1000

I hope that makes sense... :)
