The sad loss of a GREAT MAN AND VOICE
    RIP Meat Loaf age 74

Despite his obvious health problems, he kept on trucking like a real trooper
    - heart of a lion.

You know you're getting old when you can watch an 'old' movie or listen to a 'classic' album, and realise all your heroes are gone.

Nonetheless, it's the way of things I guess.

    RIP big man.

I thought the song went that he would do anything for love "but
not that". Therefore the secret of what he would NOT do dies
with him, apparently. But I think the music video provides
    obvious clues.

Was he the keyboard player for the band 'Asia'? Saw them in person twice and they are one of my favorite groups.

Asia was a supergroup... I know Steve Howe from yes was the guitarist but I think it was Carl Palmer not Keith Emerson that was from ELP... could be wrong! Great band though! "I never meant to be so bad to you..." Heat of the moment such a great song!

I heard that song only a few days ago, and he does say what he wouldn't do.

    It's in the lyrics.

After a while to forget everything
It was a brief interlude and a midsummer night's fling
And you'll see that its time to move on

    I won't do that
    I won't do that

    I know the territory
    I've been around
    It'll all turn to dust
    And we'll all fall down
And sooner or later you'll be screwing around

    I won't do that!
    No, I won't do that!

    Anything for love
Oh I would do anything for love
I would do anything for love
    But I won't do that
    No I won't do that

    Hallo Owen,

The sad loss of a GREAT MAN AND VOICE
    RIP Meat Loaf age 74
    :(

Oh yes... I've heard that news on friday morning, and it made me very
    sad.

I love his music since I first heard it (in the 90s, in my teenage
years) and I had the pleasure to see him ~ 3 times here in Germany.

For one concert, I had to borrow a wheelchair as I broke my foot only
days before the concert - but I went there :)

Just in December 2021, I've read that he was recording something - so
his death came out of the blue for me.

    Regards,
    Anna

Karl Palmer on drums, Geoff Downes (ex Yes/Buggles) on keyboards, Steve Howe on guitar, and John Wetton on bass/vox.

I heard John Wetton in concert playing "Roudabout", and thought that he sounded the closest to Chris Squire that I'd heard - there was some nuance
I'm not able to grasp fully that he just "got".

When Chris Squire passed away, then Yes was inducted into the hall of fame,
I was saddened to think the only other person who could have nailed it was John Wetton.

Then, I heard Geddy Lee playing with the rest of Yes at the induction into
the Rock and Roll hall of fame, and he did a great job of honoring a
wonderful bassist (and the longest running member of all of the incarnations of Yes...)

The "That" to which he is refering to is Cheating on her. You have to listen the the entire song to understand what he's talking about and not just take those few lines out of context like the Christians are want to do with their scriptures.

Thats how I understood it. He would do anything for love, but one thing he won't do is move on to look for love elsewhere on a whim.

Damn, I really liked that song a lot back then, still do now. My favourite of Meatloafs.
