    Hello World,
Is there anyone using VICE to get online via c64 or other old school system, at speeds above 2400 bps?
Anyone uing VICE as a emulator for a c64/c128 bbs?
I found 1 document how to get a VICE emulator to dial out on the internet, but thats it. Its pretty good doc by ADMIN with the help of Alwyz. No clue how they figured out the settings to make it all work.

A few years back I tried to use Vice to run a CNet 64 BBS. I was not able to get it to work at the time. I plan on dabbling back into that again this fall. I will post any info I may find. Hope others will also.

Can you share that one document? It just may be the pointers I need to
    try this again myself.

I am currently running a Image BBS 2.0 in Vice in Windows, and have a test bed setup in Linux.. Currently the BBS is at 2400 although, I was running at 38.4k last weekend and will be again soon as I can get some bugs ironed out of the ML. At one point last year, I had 3 BBS' running in different instances of Vice
on one machine, one ran at 19.2, the other 2 were at 2400.. If you want to use
anything above 2400, my suggestion is use the latest nightlies, they have the issues in older versions for the most part fixed.. The way I look at it, if I am using Vice then I can use SyncTerm or CGTerm just as well. I played around with Desterm but it was a lot of work to get to do the same thing as the above Term programs I mentioned..

    Hope that helps..

I will have to try the Image BBS or I was also thinking American BBS. I think cottonwoodbbs.dyndns.org uses American.
Once I get the hang of it then maybe I will try using a real c64. I just don't have the drives for a real c64. I use the
1541-ultimate-ii+ and it works fine, but trying to get the 1581 roms working on
it now. If I had at least one 1581 I think it would
    work.

Syncterm works OK on linux. I mostly use tty or vtty so I see some issues on certain boards.
CGTerm is pretty awesome but ... I have to be in X mode for that.
    Thanks for the response. :)

Set up Vice then, I worked out the issues of high speed use in Image
(although the ML is not yet available to the public, we're still testing and making sure it is good to go) it runs great, and will run better in Vice with TCPSER then it is right now in WIndows with BBS Server. I have fully tested
2.0 in Linux Vice and everything works perfect, DTR, DCD, etc..

No sweat, I am mainly using Windows to call out on, I have 2 Linux Boxes,
they both have QEMU setup to run Windows Virtual machines to handle my PC
BBS, my Linux BBS, and my Door Server. I also have a VM of Server 2019 to handle my Fax Server (yea I still get faxes and send faxes in this day and
age so I need a Fax Server LOL, it came in awful handy at work when we lost phone service after a storm for over a week, I tied into my VPN from work and was able to receive and send Faxes for work. ). Oh well.. Talk soon..
