    Hello All,

I am aware that other people have used WinUAE successfully to emulate an
Amiga, I have (apologies) a MacBook Pro, and have downloaded FS-UAE which I assume is a MacOS equivalent of said WinUAE.

Would there be any chances that anyone on here have used FS-UAE and be able
to help me get it working? I have no idea what I'm doing with it, I just
wanted to get it working with Workbench, and I would also love to try my hand at setting up a BBS on it too.

Back in early UK 90's my friend (MadK9) and I used to run a BBS called
"aCCESS dENIED" and I would love to hear that there are others who remember it... anyway I'd like to be able to resurrect if nothing else the memory of it... I couldn't tell you what BBS software it ran on, it's so long ago since those days and I never owned the hardware, I just went round every weekend to my friends to write BBS doors, play games, smoke too many cigarettes and
drink a nautical ton of coffee!

I would appreciate some pointers or even better someone to guide me through
the process. Maybe if I can get fluent enough in it I might actually purchase some real hardware! Thinking about maybe an A1200 (that's what "aCCESS
    dENIED" ran on anyway).

Would be great to know if anyone heard of or used that BBS back in the 90's,
if they remember MadK9, and others from that BBS, or if they were members of the sister board "Last Drop".

Right, if anyone can help in any way please do reply. Looking forward to
having a play with it before I release some cash to buy some hardware.

    Thanks for reading.

Personally, I use WinUAE, my best suggestion to you is google setting up
FS-UAE and follow the instructions. I was able to find instructions on
turning WinUAE into a PPC emulation and am able to run AOS4.1 on it and yea
it is super quick, Tom's Hardware is your best friend with docs for pretty
much anything.. Sorry I can't be of more help.. Once setup you will love running an Amiga again..

c2I have guide that I put together for someone who was installing C-Net BBS.
I will have to find that and get back with you on this. If you get a change give my BBS a call (Future World II - telnet: fw2.cnetbbs.net:6800) as the guide may be posted online there. I cant remember if it was online or a PDF that I put together for the user. In any case, I will be sure to find it and post it online or mail you a copy.

Best of luck to you. Its a fine emulator I used my MAC to run it and get the guide created.

FS-UAE is better than WinUAE in a lot of respects. Mainly because it is more accurate in emulation.. It is more than capable of being used to run a telnet Amiga BBS.. I have it setup on my linux box with Xenolink 1.90 . it's not
ready for callers yet so I dont have the port open, but it's not that hard to setup.

You need Amiga 1200 or Amiga 4000 Kickstart roms and the Workbench 3.1 ADF files. I can post the detailed settings in a later message.. just get that
far. Get the emulator installed and get Workbench 3.1 installed and booting. Just remember.. NEVER use HDF files, always use directory mode for your Amiga drives. HDF files crash the emulator too often when archiving/unarchiving
    files

This is great information... I'll look into this hopefully in a day or two

Although a lot of people will disagree NightStalker is right about directory drives.. I tried running in .hdf files, I had nothing but issues with the OS eating itself.. This was on 3 different OS' 3.1, 3.9, and 4.1.. When NS told
me to use Directory drives I did, and I have been running my BBS on AOS 3.9 since September with no issues at all.. Just something to watch out for with directory drives, don't do too many disk intensive things on the dos side within the Amiga directories the Amiga won't like it.. Hope that helps...

I put a ZIP file of a fresh install of AmigaOS 3.9 up on my BBS. It has a few necessary tools installed as well. You still need a kickstart rom but once
you get the emulator setup drop the archive into the root of your SYS: drive and extract it, then reboot
