Check out a few pictures I put up of the solar system as it stands today.

I got the panels mounted today and wired back in. All is working smoothly.

    Got a few more things to do but it's 95% done.....until I decide to expand it.....later ;)

    Pics are here: http://orbitbbs.ddns.net/solar

    Thanks!

Looks like a mighty fine setup. I know little about solar panels but these
seem very similar to the panels that building centers have been selling
lately around here. Been looking at them myself. :-)

    Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing your solar project system info and pictures. Nice setup
you have. I checked out (Windynation) products and prices today. Those batteries have a life cycle of around 500-800 charges. So they should last several years (depending on load) and usage, I would guess. I know how great the feeling is when we all feel more, and more self-relaint. Congrats ;)

Thank you sir! I enjoyed the project and learned a fair bit about solar. The batteries are the most expensive part of the system. That one cost about
$185 but like you said, it should last quite a while depending on usage. You can use slightly cheaper batteries like a deep cycle marine, just make sure to get the highest amp-hour you can afford. I use one 85 amp-hour marine battery to power part of my ham radio station and it works nicely.

The panels are rated for 20-25 years. They will still put out 80% of their rated power at that age.

The main purpose of the system is to provide power/lights to the storage
shed. Sure, it cost more than running a 120v line to it....BUT, I would not have learned anything and it would still be tied to the mains. I wanted an independent system that could be used for additional aux power in case it's needed.

    Thanks!
