• [echoirlp] Rebuild a node on legacy hardware CentOS 4.9 - HDD Failure

    From K1IMD@432:1/101 to echoirlp@groups.io on Fri Nov 29 17:19:54 2019
The network side of things on IRLP & EchoLink connect FB and IRLP seems to work
    OK.

I cannot upgrade beyond CentOS 4.9 because this Mini-ITX will not support any newer OS.

However, I searched high and low for a functional link to the echoirlp install file. There was some chatter on this reflector (Yahoo!) about 2 years ago, plus I had some older copies. No matter which one I used they would bomb out downloading the .tgz files.

As luck would have it, I have one other node running the same hardware so I was
able to copy all the files over and set the correct permissions and set up all
the symbolic links. I tried to manually start tdb and it says it is made into a daemon. But when I run /home/irlp/custom/rc.irlp I get the error message "tbd: unrecognized service" an logs indicate it is running. Do I assume that I
need to start it a service on boot up of the PC? I am having trouble Googling any information on setting up a service on an OS that is that old.
