    Tony,

Fire danger dropped off rapidly here from Feb onwards, thanks to late summer V>rains.

Yeah, it was like you first couldn't buy a drop of rain...then, you
couldn't get the spigot turned off. :P

"It never rains, it pours". We are expecting a wet remainder of autumn and winter too. This is not unusual within 2 years of a bad fire season, but the unusual aspect is it started in February, rather than in autumn or winter, like previous times.

We've been getting 1 dry day out of 7 much of March and April. We had
a few dry days last week, but the daily stormy wet pattern is back.

Come July, we won't be able to buy a drop of rain.

Got a relatively dry week, and finally the stability within the middle of a high pressure system. I might get some spraying done. :)

For insects?? They and the pollen are trying to outdo each other.

They're for the fat cats...p!$$ on the employees.

I have to wait until we get an extended dry spell. I have a bunch of
ivy in the yard, and around the house, that I need to drown in spray.
But, it's too wet to spray that now.

    Yep. ;)

Years ago, there was a textile business in New England, run by a
Jewish man, who felt having an exhorbitant salary was a bad example.

Just before Thanksgiving one year, a freak accident caused a massive
fire at the plant, destroying it, and putting an uncertain future on all
the employees now out of a job (no money for Thanksgiving, Christmas,
    etc.).

Well, the insurance company determined it "an act of God", and they
quickly approved the claim...and rebuilding began quickly. Yet, during
the downtime, he kept paying the employees. When the factory reopened in
April, the employees were ready to kiss his feet, as it were. He was
there when they needed him...now, they were ready to return the favor. I
think the only way one left the job was via retirement or death (and I
doubt he required 2 weeks notice of the latter <G>).
