• Welcome!

From Vk3jed@432:1/101 to All on Tue Jan 16 12:28:00 2018
Noticed we now have a number of mailing list subscribers. This is the official support list for IRLP reflector 9550, and the Echolink conferences that it carries. If there's anything to report, like scheduled outages, etc, I will post them here. This is also the place to ask questions, get support, report issues, as well as engage in general chatter.

If anyone is running nets on any of the reflector channels, please feel free to promote your net here. I will setup an automated post for a couple of the regular nets, like the VK AMSAT net, which happens on 9558 on the second Tuesday of the month in the evening, Australian time.

Please feel free to introduce yourselves.

One other thing I ask is please post in plain text (no HTML), as the list is a cross platform list, and not all platforms used can handle HTML. Similarly, no file attachments. If you need to share files, please put them somewhere for download, and post the link here.

Anyway, welcome aboard and enjoy. If you like, please feel free to introduce yourselves.

... I may not be perfect, but parts of me are excellent.

I guess I better heed the moderators advice, or he might <SLAP!> me,
and sprint away. <G> Tony, you might want to explain this joke. :)

My name is Daryl Stout, and I'm an amateur radio operator in Little
Rock, Arkansas, in the United States. I was originally N5VLZ when I was
first licensed in 1991...then changed to AE5WX in 2009, then to WX1DER
    in 2012. Weather...specifically Skywarn Operations...got me interested
in ham radio in the first place.

I've run Skywarn Nets, and am one of the Net Controls for the VoIP
Skywarn Hurricane Prep Net, that meets on Echolink Node 7203, IRLP Node
9219, on the first Saturday of the month (U.S. Time) from December
through May, and every Saturday from June through November, which is the
U.S. Atlantic Hurricane Season. I'm also one of the Net Controls for the Southeast U.S. D-Star Weather Net on Sundays (U.S. Time), and mainly Net Control for D-Rats checkins.

I also am a Volunteer Examiner (VE), and a VE Team Liaison in central Arkansas. I've been doing that for over 10 years, working to get new
folks into the hobby, or to get upgraded.

More details on yours truly are in my bio on the QRZ website.

    Daryl, WX1DER

An old gag from the early days of the VoIP WX Net, back in 2004, I think, when sometimes people would get busy, so I would put *SLAP* in our text chats as an attention grabber, and the idea kind of became a greeting among a few of us. The "sprints away" bit came a couple of years ago, after I took up track and field (I'm a sprinter, so the chances of getting away with it in real life are quite high ;) ). :)

... I'm an optimist... I'm positive things are going to go wrong. ;)
